Glarence /glɛ́rəns/ (male)

Because of its association with angels, Clarence has always been a little bit too squeaky-clean for all but the most conservative parents. The subtle insertion of the word ‘glare’ into the old favourite produces Glarence, a name with an edge sharp enough to sever Clarence’s angelic wings without cutting too deeply and damaging the foundation on which the name is built. Clearly, this was a need that no one knew needed to be filled, because after only two months on the scene, Glarence is more popular than Clarence ever was, having just risen to seventh place on the global charts.
“Glarence is always getting in trouble for feeding strangers’ dogs.”
